چکیده

The current work presents a unique study on the seismic performance of innovative corrugated-plate steel bridge piers. While several previous research was conducted tubes with cross sections such as rounded or semi triangular plates, structural members straight ribbed corrugation geometry under uniaxial cyclic loading remained gap. Thus, this aims to present new concept that could add promising design effect. piers numerically investigated in terms load-bearing capacity and local buckling. ABAQUS employed accomplish series finite element analyses constant axial dead load lateral displacement. Three different geometries corrugated-shaped (i.e., C60, C80, C146 mm deep) along four thicknesses 6, 8, 10, 12 mm) were compared traditional circular-shaped Cir) having same outer diameter. results revealed offered 20% greater 66% more ductility their companions tubes. It interesting notice peak value column than those C80 C60 columns by 7% 10%, respectively. Furthermore, buckling generally seen less severe amongst This raises importance used over circular shapes owing advantages strength aestheticism.

Seismic Performance of Steel Plate-Reinforced Concrete Composite Shear Wall

In tall buildings the reinforced concrete (RC) shear wall is one of the predominant structural components used to resist lateral loads induced by earthquakes around the world. Previous research demonstrated that shear walls displayed a sudden loss in lateral capacity due to the wall corner and web crushing in the plastic zone. In addition, it was found that large shear distortions in shear wall...

introduction and study of seismic performance of tihn-walled hollow steel column fabricated of corrugated plates

thin-walled hollow steel columns, either circular or box shaped, are commonly used as piers in bridges. recent earthquakes, e.g. hyogoken-nanbu or kobe 1995, on the other hand have shown that these columns are vulnerable to damage when subjected to earthquake loading. this paper presents a new innovative thin-walled hollow steel column fabricated of corrugated plates, “thin-walled steel columns...

Numerical Analysis of End Plate Bolted Connection with Corrugated Beam

Steel extended end plate bolted connections are recommended to be widely utilized in special moment-resisting frame subjected to monotonic loading. Improper design of steel beam to column connection can lead to the collapse and fatality of structures. Therefore comprehensive research studies of beam to column connection design should be carried out. Also the performance and effect of corrugated...

Experimental Study of the Seismic Performance of L-Shaped Columns with 500 MPa Steel Bars

Based on tests on six L-shaped RC columns with 500 MPa steel bars, the effect of axial compression ratios and stirrup spacing on failure mode, bearing capacity, displacement, and curvature ductility of the specimens is investigated. Test results show that specimens with lower axial load and large stirrup characteristic value (larger than about 0.35) are better at ductility and seismic performan...

Performance Evaluation of Curved-TADAS Damper on Seismic Response of Moment Resisting Steel Frame

In this study, the performance of triangular added damping and stiffness (TADAS) dampers combined with curved dampers (Curved-TADAS damper) is evaluated in moment resisting steel frame (MRSF). These dampers are passive and install in the beam-column connection region. Variable parameters of this study involve the width of curved damper (50, 75 and 100 mm), the thickness of TADAS damper (5 and 1...
